Fab One Saves The Day

Man of the Match Faebian Witter came to Vale's rescue in the first half and enabled Vale to press on to a 0-4 win away at Ascot United. A couple of great saves kept Vale in the game, but at the other end, a costly mistake by the Ascot goalkeeper gifted Natty Boake a goal on 38', and Vale went into the half-time break with a 0-1 lead.

Urged on by the goal, Vale came out for the second half determined to take control of the game. Mason Galloway doubled the lead on 47'.

The Vale defence was on form, and some excellent blocking prevented the home side from getting back into the match.

Vale's dominance of the half continued, and victory was sealed in the 64' when the excellent Erik Kenko scored Vale's third goal after some terrific teamwork.

Another Ascot defensive error was punished in the 88' when Shamal Edwards took advantage of a weak back-pass to magnify Vale's control of the half.

Witter and the entire team will be delighted with the clean sheet and the three points. Vale move up to 8th in the table. A win on Wednesday evening against Southall could place Raynes Park Vale within touching distance of league leaders Bognor Regis Town.
